Summary: When
news arrives that Emperor Daican has been in contact with his chief war
strategist, it signals potential doom for the country of Samara.
Determined to intervene, the resistance
in Landale, headed by Lady Anne, embark on a covert mission in hopes of
unearthing further information. However, a shocking discovery leads to
complications no one could have foreseen.
Armed
with their newfound knowledge, they set out for Samara to warn the
king. War is inevitable, and they must face two desperate battles—one on
the walls of Samara’s great stronghold, and the other on the
battlefield of Jace’s heart, where victory might only be achievable
through great sacrifice.
Thoughts: I'm just going to start off by trying to express how happy I am that this book is out! I absolutely adored the previous two books in the Ilyon Chronicles and Samara's Peril does not disappoint! Full of the action, development, plot and faith inspired struggles as it's predecessors, I dare say this might be the best installment yet! Ok, I'll calm down now.
Yes, this book was amazingly well written. Despite being third in a series, it never let the story drag and new developments are constantly pushing these well rounded characters forward on their journey of faith and struggle for freedom. Old names and faces are remembered and the joys and sorrows from the past are never forgotten. Towards the end I was nearly moved to tears by the progression of a certain character (trust me, you'll know who) and the amazingly well handle twists and turns of their personal plot. Over all, a fantastic return to Ilyon for all fans, new and old though of course I would suggest reading the previous two books first as these are not stand alone novels.
Content: Battle violence as in the last two books but a little more intense here, never gory or too detailed. The biggest issue in this book was SPOILER a certain female character was nearly raped while another was revealed at a later to have been raped. Again, nothing overly descriptive, in fact it was mostly just suggestive, but this might be inappropriate for younger readers. Otherwise, a clean and wonderful, faith filled tale!
