Cover Reveal + Giveaway: Half Blood

Okay, awhile back we got the chance to read Resistance and The King's Scrolls and completely fell in love with the Ilyon Chronicles. Well, today I have the pleasure of helping host the cover reveal for Jaye L. Knight's prequel novella Half Blood that is releasing this summer. So, without further ado...I give you the cover:

Summary: The gasps and murmuring grew. Though some were hardly more than whispers, clear words reached Jace’s ears—dangerous, monster, animal, soulless. He tried to back away from their accusing eyes, but the collar pulled hard against his throat and held him in place.

For all his years as a slave, Jace has known nothing but the hatred people hold for his mixed blood—one half human, the other half the blood of a race considered monsters. Always, he is the outsider and quickly learns it is better to keep to himself. But, when his volatile ryrik blood leads him to do the unthinkable, he is thrown into a world of violence and bloodshed.

Forced to become a gladiator, Jace finds more and more of his heart dying as his master works to break down his will not to become the monster everyone believes he is. When a stranger interferes with his master’s harsh punishment, Jace’s world is upended yet again. But with it comes the possibility of hope that has long since died. Could the man possibly hold the key to escaping the hopeless darkness that is Jace’s life? Is there such a thing as life beyond the cruelty of slavery?

See where Jace’s story all began . . .

Cover Reveal: A Wish Made of Glass

Okay! First time doing a cover reveal and we get such an amazing cover to share! Here is the long awaited reveal for Ashlee Willis's newest book A Wish Made of Glass.

Doesn't it look amazing? So eerie and pretty!
Here is the intriguing summary:
Deep in a forest glade, the fey folk dance with Isidore, a young human child. Their kinship is the very fabric of her childhood. When her mother dies and her world darkens with sorrow, Isidore finds her belief in the fey folk wavering.
The love of her new step-sister, Blessing, proves an unexpected gift in her time of need. Yet even as their friendship blooms, Isidore begins to see that Blessing is everything she herself has always wanted to be, but is not. Jealousy grips Isidore as she watches this beautiful new sister steal away all she holds dear.
Driven to desperation, Isidore turns to the fey folk once more. She has only one wish to claim from them, one chance to make things right. But she must tread carefully. For wishes, like hearts, are easily broken. And obtaining the one thing she desires could mean destroying the one thing she truly needs.

How We Discovered Ilyon

We first heard of Resistance during an interview with Jaye L. Knight in August last year. While the idea sounded intriguing, we figured the romance part was going to be a large plot point and decided we weren't interested. Months later, it popped up again on Goodreads and we discovered that one of  the main characters had a twin. Always on the lookout for books about siblings we started looking around (rather casually) for more information but it was still several months before we managed to get our hands on it. Then, little over a month ago, my sister (Epic) found it on kindle. We borrowed it, sat down, and managed to finish it in two days each. It was amazing! We were blown away with the story and completely fell in love with the characters! It wasn't long after that that we borrowed The King's Scrolls and tore through that as well. We are now avid fans of the Illyon Chronicles and look forward to the rest of the series!

Book Review: Dragon's Milk

Summary: "You must go to the dragon. You must leave tonight."
Before she even hears the words, Kaeldra already knows what she must do. She must search out the mother dragon whose draclings have just hatched and somehow get some of her precious milk. It's the only way to save her foster-sister's life. Kaeldra would rather not go. It's much too terrifying, much too dangerous. But Kaeldra knows that she's the only one who can do it. For she is the only one who can actually communicate with dragons.
But little does Kaeldra know what she's getting into. She's about to begin a journey that will entwine her fate with that of three little draclings and one would-be dragonslayer. A journey that will become a struggle for life.

Thoughts: Well...this wasn't exactly what I was expecting because, surprise! the dragon milk part is actually only the very beginning, the prologue to the adventure. Now it was pretty cute and reminiscent of Patricia Wrede's Dealing With Dragons, but Kaeldra was a little less tough and fell for the love interest a little too easily in my opinion. this wasn't a problem with the story though. My only true problem with this book was that the heroine seemed to fall into more trouble than adventure. She got into more scrapes that cause her to flee rather than a actual adventure that causes character growth and teaches the main characters valuable lessons. even so, this was still a fun book and light read!

Content: Aside from a few animal deaths (one a little gruesome but not very detailed) there is no content. This is a clean and safe read!
